Violet is as pretty as the flower for which she was named. She has rare chocolate blue markings. Her markings gradually transition from a platinum color on her soft ears to a chocolate brown on her back. Violet is the mother of Apache, Leftie, Lola, Mocha, and Mouse.
Earlier this year, Violet had to have emergency surgery to have a foreign object removed from her intestines and an emergency hysterectomy because she had developed an infection in her uterus. Thankfully, Violet has made a full recovery and is back to her happy, healthy, loving self. Thank you to everyone for all their well wishes and all the generous donations made to assist Bully Paws with Violet's veterinary bills. Most of Violet's puppies have found their forever homes and Violet is ready to find hers too. She is adjusting well to life in a home. Unfortunately, it appears that in her previous life, Violet may have been crated for very long periods of time. Thus, she has a very strong adversion to being crated. In my home, she spends most of her time on the couch watching television, but when I can not be with her to supervise her, she is confined to her own room. She is working very hard on her housebreaking and has no accidents in the house when she is kept on a strict schedule. Violet, being still a puppy herself (the vet says she is less than 2 years old), is a big chewer, particularly when she is left alone without supervision. Any potential adopter must be diligent about making sure there is nothing temping laying around that she could get a hold of, and provide her plenty of appropriate toys and chews to keep her entertained when she is by herself. We DO NOT want another emergency trip to the vet! While Violet seems to like other dogs, it is apparent that that she has not spent a lot of time with other dogs. She becomes extremely excited in their presence and is very confused by their behavior. I have been working with her to teach her how to play bow and to look away (rather than give direct eye contact which can be intimidating and rude in the dog world). Because of Violet's awkwardness around other dogs, she would do best in a single-dog home, but would like to have the opportunity to interact with a few very tolerant dogs for short periods of time. Violet is very sweet! She craves attention, and Violet LOVES everyone she meets, particularly children! She does great with my 10-year old neighbor Morgan who comes (with an adult neighbor) to help care for Violet and her puppies in the evenings when I am at work. Morgan gets covered in kisses from Violet everyday. Morgan has been watching shows on Animal Planet lately and has been trying the teaching techniques that she has learned on Violet. It's cute to watch Morgan working with Violet - she gets so excited when Violet performs the trick that she has asked for (I don't have the heart to tell her that Violet already knows how to do the tricks she is "training" her to do). Violet is still learning not to jump up to get attention so I would not recommend leaving her around children unattended because she may accidently knock a small child over, but she really enjoys the attention she gets from children. With some patience and training, she will make a wonderful, loyal and devoted family dog. Violet longs to find her life-long human companion(s). Could that companion be you?
