Sadie was rescued from Caroline County animal shelter in March of 2009.  At that time she was very malnourished and the picture of neglect.  Sadie had secrets she couldn't tell her foster parents -- but she desperately wanted them to know that even though the world and its people had been unkind to her, she would love them with all of her heart.  She shows them her appreciation by trying her best to be brave even when the world is a scary place. 

 

She lets her foster mom give her a bath without complaint.  She tries again and again at walks and car rides, even though they are something she is totally unfamiliar with.  She is crate trained and housebroken, never once having an accident. She does these things because she feels loved.  Sadie has three foster "siblings" -- two boy dogs and a cat; she thinks they're swell.  She'd love a family to call her own though -- a family she could love all the rest of her days -- and one who would replace her sad secrets with the stuff that dreams are made of. 

 

Sadie hasn't known many people who loved her as much as she loved them.  Maybe she tries too hard.  A lick on the hand, a cock of the head -- she doesn't even know she's being cute.  She's just trying to say, "Thank you.  Thank you for loving me back."
